Is couples intensive therapy right for us, and why choose it over regular therapy?
If you're facing a relationship crisis, feeling disconnected, or simply want faster progress, a couple’s intensive offers focused time to dive deeper and make meaningful change more quickly than traditional weekly sessions.
Busy lives make weekly sessions hard—especially when change feels slow.
Sometimes, one hour a week simply isn’t enough to untangle the complex dynamics of a struggling relationship. You leave session just starting to open up—and before you know it, time’s up. The momentum fades between appointments, and the deeper healing work never quite gets off the ground.
Couples Intensive Therapy offers a different path.
Couples Intensives are immersive, focused sessions—spanning several hours or days—to help you move past surface-level conflict and into real healing. Whether you're facing a crisis or craving deeper connection, this format creates space for insight, repair, and renewed hope.
Whether you're facing a major rupture like infidelity, feeling emotionally distant, stuck in cycles of communication breakdown, or simply craving a stronger foundation—an intensive can accelerate progress and offer clarity, insight, and renewed hope.
You don’t have to keep spinning your wheels. You don’t have to do this alone.
You’re in the right place.
Transform your relationship in a focused, immersive experience—where real change happens faster.
What is an intensive?
Couples Intensive Therapy is a focused, immersive experience designed to create meaningful change in a short period of time. Instead of short weekly or bi-weekly appointments, intensives consist of extended sessions of up to six hours each day, over the course of 2 to 3 days.
This approach is specifically catered to busy couples who want to make faster progress and break through long-standing challenges without the wait.
Each intensive follows a customized schedule tailored to your unique needs, ensuring that every moment is spent addressing what matters most in your relationship.
Couples Intensives can be as effective as six months of weekly therapy, helping you tackle key issues, rebuild trust, and reconnect in a fraction of the time.
Investing in your relationship now means a stronger, more connected future for both you and your family.

Pre-Intensive Assessment
Before starting Couples Intensive Therapy, a comprehensive assessment ensures the therapy is fully tailored to your needs. This includes:
One couple session (90 minutes) to discuss your relationship history, goals, and challenges.
Gottman Couples relationship online assessment to gain deeper insight into your dynamics.
Two individual sessions (50 minutes each) to explore personal concerns and deepen understanding.
One treatment planning and review session (75 minutes) to review insights and identify key focus areas for your intensive.
Personalized therapy experiences. 1-day, 2-day and 3-day formats are available.

Intensive
Session
Couples Intensive Therapy session involves several hours of focused relationship work over one or more consecutive days. This immersive approach allows couples to dive deep into core issues, break unhealthy patterns, and work toward healing and reconnection—all in a concentrated timeframe. By creating space for uninterrupted progress, couples often experience breakthroughs and meaningful change much faster than with traditional weekly therapy.
3
Post-Intensive Follow-Up
Following your Couples Intensive therapy, ongoing support is available to help you maintain progress and continue growing together.
For couples who meet their goals during the intensive, 90-minute follow-up sessions are scheduled every six months for up to one or two years to check in and reinforce lasting change.
If more support is needed, ongoing sessions can be scheduled weekly, monthly, or quarterly. These sessions are spaced intentionally, giving you time to apply the tools you've learned while still having access to guidance as needed.

At The Gathering Relationship Center, I draw from two of the most well-researched and effective models for couples therapy: The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
By combining the practical structure and research-based tools of the Gottman Method with the emotional depth and attachment-based insights of EFT, I help couples not only improve how they communicate—but also understand the deeper emotional needs that drive their patterns.
This integrated approach allows us to:
Identify and shift negative interaction cycles
Strengthen emotional connection and trust
Build new ways of relating that support long-term intimacy and resilience
Whether you're recovering from infidelity or simply want to deepen your connection, this blend supports both insight and action—helping you feel seen, heard, and more securely connected.
